How to use TrelLinks

TrelLinks and Trellis' come unfinished or black powder-coated. The unfinished products can either be left natural to rust in the elements or finished with a rust inhibiting spray paint. TrelLinks that have rusted can be sprayed with a clear spray to coat them and preserve their own character.

TrelLinks come with a retainer to hold them in place.  As you assemble them, attach the retainer over the hook.  It helps to clip them together before inserting into the ground.

Below are some pictures of examples of how they can be used.

21-inch TrelLinks have been painted burgandy and surround an orange Crocosmia to fully support the plant as shown here early in the season
36-inch TrelLInks protect a garden area from deer. The bottom has been cut off one of the center TrelLinks to allow a gate to open.
TrelLInks form a border between marigolds and glads. TrelLinks add an attractive support to prevent the glads from falling over.
48-inch TrelLinks connected together to form a fence.
TrelLinks have been connected in a series from 96-inch in the center to 24-inch at the outer edge. They have been painted bronze to match a neighboring bridge.

Many of the TrelLinks pictured have been finished. We have used a rust preventing spray paint on many of the ones we have used and they have weathered well for 3 winters with only few spots of rust showing through. Touch up spray would eliminate that. We have also used a rust preventing primer to paint them white. The white TrelLinks provide a nice contrast with plants. The combination TrelLinks pictured on the home page were painted bronze to match our bridge.   We also produce TrelLinks that have been powder-coated with a black finish.

The Trellises should be pushed into the ground as far as necessary to make them sturdy. The smaller ones can be used in planters or pots, either outside or inside.

We produce two kinds of TrelLinks, outward curl and side curl. The outward curl TrelLinks come in a 21-inch height. These are used for enclosing plants or as a border or barrier. The side curl TrelLinks come in 2-foot, 3-foot, 4-foot, 6-foot, and 8-foot tall sections. These can be used to encircle plants or connect together to form a border or countless other designs. Each TrelLink has hooks and eyes which connect them together. The TrelLinks are 24-inches wide making it easy to plan plan & shape your ideas.  The different sizes also connect together so you can use different heights together.  Your imagination is your only limit to using TrelLinks!

HOW TO CONNECT TRELLINKS

  • Start by deciding on the desired shape.  It can be helpful when first using the TrelLinks to put them together on top of the ground to determine size & shape. You can mix sizes to add character. It is helpful to work in the direction that puts the hook into the eye.
  • Each TrelLink comes with retainers that fit around the hook to help keep them from coming apart.  This makes it fairly easy to place the entire structure exactly in its setting.
  • TrelLinks are made with 11" stakes on the bottom.  This allows your design to stand straight over uneven ground.
